I really like this girl but, is Mormonism so toxic that I should just sever the relationship before it gets serious. The Church does not recognize homosexual marriage, and does not condone sexual activity outside of marriage. The system has broken him down and rebuilt him as someone, I fear, I won't be able to respect or feel connected to. Nobody has prepared her for one, definitely haven't prepared her for a healthy physical relationship. As our relationship has progressed, this vague hypothetical question has led to some much more concrete thinking about what an interfaith marriage would be like for me, for him, and for us. I almost left the marriage,3xs.
I am a staff nurse and my boyfriend is in his last year in medicine school whos now havong rough tough junior internships. But, as soon as the marriage happened, the Mormon spouse goes full on Orthodox and expects the non Mormon to comply. Some of my family approves of my marriage and some does not. It's why TBMs are so bugged by people that leave the church. I was definitely taking the "Tough love" approach because I've read countless times on this and other boards, how Mormons claimed that they were cool with their SO not being Mormon, and that they weren't, themselves, orthodox. I'm currently married to a second year resident in emergency medicine. And of course we have been taughtвby Brigham Young, at leastвthat even when Christ comes during the Millenium there will be those who will not accept him as their Savior even if they accept him as the leader of the world. I'm surprised this thread is still getting replies.
